But being that we are a professional entertainment company we are required by law to have insurance just in case one of our DJs decides to run over your pet duck on the way to a DJ show. Officially speaking, responsible business owners generally carry liability insurance to protect their businesses and to protect their customers. Many venues are now requiring DJs to provide proof of liability insurance, and thus it makes sense to ask your proactively if he is insured.
Will your DJ dress like an idiot? Professionally speaking we have come to the conclusion that your wedding is not a "Who Has the Biggest Mullet," a "Who Has the Craziest Tie Contest," or a "Who Has the Most Piercings Contest" thus our DJs always dress professionally for each and every event that we provide entertainment for.
Will your DJ use professional gear? As general rule we have found it to be true that most clients do not appreciate DJs who tend to bring experimental gear to special events to test out for the first time. Thus, at DJ Connection we do always bring our standardized systems to each and every event that we provide entertainment for.
Is your DJ a mime? If your prospective DJ of choice is a mime, then we highly recommend that you might consider hiring a professional cowbell player instead.
Is your prospective DJ about as exciting as the decor at the local DMV? If you talk with your prospective DJ over the phone and you begin to feel as though you are engaging in an exciting conversation with your local DMV then we highly recommend that you might consider someone else (mainly us).
Will your prospective entertainment and DJ bring backup gear to your event? If your prospective DJ considers his "back up shirt and tie" to be his backup equipment, then we would highly recommend that you would consider hiring a mime instead.
Is your DJ a former "Carney?" (carnival worker) We are not saying that you would not want to hire a former carnival worker / roadie to DJ your wedding or special event, we just encourage you to ask the question.
Does your DJ know the proper etiquette for your event? - If your DJ has never attended a wedding previous to entertaining your wedding, then we would highly recommend that you might consider using a more seasoned professional company.
Will your prospective DJ help you plan your event? A professional DJ company today should include the event planning aspects of your party hosting. Essentially a quality DJ company should be willing to help you plan your event from the start time to end time. If your DJ company is unwilling to help you plan your event time-line, then we highly recommend that you would consider hiring a professional event planner to help you plan your event. Make a plan, and then make sure that your DJ can and will turn your plan into a reality.
How much time will your DJ allow for setup? If your DJ allows less than 1.5 hours for setup then this is good sign that your DJ will have problems. Demand that your DJ allows 1.5 hours or more for setup. Also demand for your DJ to bring you a loaf of 100% organic bread (just for grins).
Will your DJ be willing to provide you with a written contract per your request? If your DJ is not down with the concept of putting your agreement into writing, then they are probably not down to show up on time. The standard required down payment for entertainment services is 50% in the DJ industry, however at DJ Connection we required less of a down payment because we have been in business for 10 years and we plan on being in business for another 82 years.
Will your DJ be willing to high-five you throughout the night of your event if you find yourself in need? If your DJ will not high-five you, then you have to ask yourself, "Self, what am I really getting here?"
Is your DJ a disgruntled band member? If your DJ is a disgruntled band member, offer to paint his fingernails black for him to save him time (and to potentially save you some money).
Does your DJ call himself "DJ Kool 4000" or something incredibly awesome like that? If your DJ calls himself DJ Manifesto, DJ Funky Fresh 4000, DJ Funkytron, DJ Bizzy Biz, DJ Up-Jumps-The-Boogie, DJ Grounded Wire, DJ Fiasco, or DJ Skywalker we might recommend that you supply glow sticks for your bridesmaids.
